Marilyn:  This recipe originated many years ago with Uncle Curt's mother, Mary Richards.  Since then, the Lears & the Meisters have enjoyed many wacky cakes.  Mom didn't have to have a special occasion to bake it-she made it frequently.  I have made this cake for every birthday since Chris was small.  I tried another cake for Chris's birthday one year, but the wacky was voted back the following year & every year since.  The cream cheese frosting is our favorite.  Mom gave me this recipe for a small square pan, but the recipe above is for a double recipe-I always make the double recipe because it disappears so fast!  It can be made in a small square pan--cut all ingredients in half & bake 20-25 min.
