This cookie has always been a family favorite.  My mother, Vina, made these often when I was a kid, and she made them almost every time I came home to visit.  My wife, Nancy, makes these now.  When Mom was in the nursing home, Nancy would mail her a batch from time to time.  She wrapped the cookies individually in wax paper so they would travel well.  Mom got a kick out of that and she enjoyed Nancy's cookies very much.  Bud makes these too, but (nothing personal Bud) Nancy's are better.  Just like Mom used to make.
